My life can be best understood if you will link together three major continents: America……..Africa…….Europe

AMERICA

• Born in Norfolk, Nebraska on a snowy night on Groundhog’s Day, February 2, 1947.
• Attended college at North Park University in Chicago, Illinois where I met my wife, Joan.
• Lived out my passion for working with people in coaching, counseling and mentoring in Port Huron, Michigan.

AFRICA

• Learned the importance of building a life on solid foundations in the country of the Congo, in Central Africa.

EUROPE

• Learned as a young man to “dream the impossible dream” in Brussels, Belgium.  After high school, I saved up enough money to fly to Europe, buy a motor scooter, rent an apartment, get a job in a supermarket and study French at night.  As one wise consultant once said, “I had a lot of sky with little earth”  (meaning lots of dreams for adventure with little finances to support them).  Over the years, I’ve learned the importance of finding a balance of both!

I have been married to Joan for the past 39 years, and am thankful for a companion and friend who is always ready for a new adventure.  We’ve explored the world together, both physically and emotionally, from the top of Pikes Peak to the tropical forest of my boyhood home in the Congo. Joan is a Registered Nurse/Diabetes Educator, helping persons with a chronic disease to live a healthy lifestyle.

God has blessed us with two children, one daughter-in-law and one son-in-law in addition to twin 6 year old grandsons.
